Symmetry, Branching, and Structural Change

Establish a pattern so that its continuation or disruption can carry meaning.

Lines, stanzas, images, sounds, or voices can answer one another symmetrically. A departure has force when readers have had time to recognize the earlier pattern. Formal change then becomes part of expectation and discovery.

Quantum superposition and algorithmic branching offer different treatments of possibility. Alternatives within a quantum state can interfere; an algorithm follows operations under conditions. The selected relationship should guide how a poem organizes its alternatives.

An unresolved poem can still have a definite form. Parallel images, alternating voices, or a recurring rhythm can hold possibilities in view. Clear organization gives readers a way to follow what remains uncertain.
